The challenge

Reaching Arabic-speaking customers takes more than translating an English catalogue. Category names and product descriptions need to reflect how customers search, while the website needs a clear structure for both languages.

The priority was to make the retailer’s key Arabic pages easier to discover and more useful to shoppers, with content that read naturally and described the products accurately.

What I changed

  • Localised priority category and product pages using market-specific research. Keyword research considered differences in terminology and search phrasing across markets such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Those findings informed the content, so the wording reflected how customers search in each market.
  • Organised the Arabic site structure. Aligned the category and product pages with the way customers search and browse.
  • Connected the English and Arabic versions. Implemented hreflang and a consistent bilingual structure to identify corresponding language versions.
  • Improved the page templates. Added structured data and internal-link modules to support the discovery of priority pages.

How the work came together

The content and technical work supported the same goal: helping customers find useful Arabic pages.

Localised copy addressed what shoppers were looking for. The bilingual structure connected the language versions, while internal links connected relevant pages within the catalogue. Applying changes through reusable templates also made it easier to extend the approach across the site.
